Whales-n-Sails Adventures - Grand Manan Island
 New Brunswick, Canada

There were 7 of these magnificent animals in this group.

Three of a group of 7 fin back whales

Notice the light color on the right side of these whale's heads. This is a color pattern characteristic of this species known as asymmetric pigmentation. The left side of the head is dark like the rest of the animal. This light skin color is thought to be used by the whales to reflect sunlight to disorientate and/or herd schools of fish when the whales are feeding.
